On your mark, get ready...

I'm back and I'm giving this blogging thing a go once again.

I haven't been blogging for the better part of a couple of years now; so instead of boring my good readers with the ins and outs of what's happened in the meantime, I'm going to hold my breath and jump in the deep end - sink or swim.

For those of you who are discovering my little space here in this very crowded web, why have I called my blog Flying Furballs? To me, this idea captures the very essence of the randomness of this blog. You never know what is lurking just beneath the couch... and for the very brave in my home, you're sure to find some furballs.

They say, write what you're passionate about - so here's my list in no particular order:
  • Family and 'fur-people'
  • Life and everyday challenges that come along with said life
  • Diabetes Online Community (a.k.a. the DOC)
  • Advocacy - especially Diabetes and accessibility
  • Snippets and pure randomness - things that just amuse me (you'll find a lot of this)
  • Cupcakes (little bit of bolus-worthy nirvana)

So here we go!

"Sometimes," said Pooh, "the smallest things take up the most room in your heart."

Sharing the Stories

Everything that doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. And later on you can use it in some story. ~~Tapani Bagge

I would like to welcome our newest feature writer on staff. Okay, maybe staff is understating it a bit. But I would like to welcome Larry who has kindly offered to help me out, and keep this Furball place busy with posts. Larry has been my mentor and my critic. He has been published. He's my number one fan and is now my partner in more than one way. Best of all, he's okay with the fact that the pay around here is just plain lousy.

Larry will provide a new and sometimes quirky perspective to this Furball space. He's our resident dog whisperer and trainer. He patiently shows Rocky his food bowl for the 1,545,222nd time, and offers a lap to Petey whenever he wants it. He always looks out for the best interests of our fish (his last words to me as I rush out the door - did I remember to close the fish lid. He knows how much Petey loves it when I forget to close the lid after feeding time). You'll also find out that he has a lot to share about music, and can often 'name that tune' on the 2nd note.

I know that sometimes I post infrequently, and cause my loyal fans to wonder if and when Furballs will come back. But sometimes life just gets in the way. So I hope you enjoy what Larry has to share, because he's got plenty to say, and he's pretty good. Above all, I hope you will tune in to enjoy both of our views on our Furball world.

Thank you for visiting Flying Furballs

One may care little about why I created Flying Furballs, and why I'm joining hordes of people who are also sharing their bits and pieces of themselves in blogs. I guess the only answer here is, "Why not?!"

What is Flying Furballs supposed to be? It is to be a collection of my ramblings. Sometimes I might have a mighty soapbox to climb... and to fall from. Sometimes I might have a diatribe of a social nature. Or just a random thought shared for the purpose of... well... who knows - maybe just to get it off my chest.

I welcome you to visit and comment whenever you like. I believe that sharing viewpoints is a way to grow as people, and ultimately as a society.
